The small collar is the mini version of the Italian collar. The petit collar shirt has a classic opening, similar to the Italian collar, with shorter points at 55 mm. Unlike the Italian collar, it is flexible and does not feature whalebones. The small collar is a discreet detail that adds elegance in a British spirit, like the majority of open collars.

It's the ideal collar for elongated or small faces, since it helps to balance them out by emphasizing the shoulders and, more generally, the top of the shirt. It is not, however, suitable for people with long necks. For a casual look, the small collar can be worn and held open at the first button, without a tie, and can easily be paired with jeans.
