Since 2015, LE CHEMISEUR® shirts have been produced in a small-scale workshop in Tunisia, where we have gradually become its main client. Tunisia’s long-standing textile tradition makes it easy to find highly skilled seamstresses, whom we train in made-to-measure techniques. Over the past decade, the number of permanent employees has doubled, now exceeding 70 people.
Tunisia’s geographic proximity to France fosters close collaboration and has helped us lower our CO₂ emissions. Today, our shirts travel by truck and boat instead of by plane. We visit the workshop several times a year, and production recently moved to a larger, brighter, and air-conditioned facility. We continue to invest in our partner workshop, for instance by introducing a new personalized label-printing process in 2023.
Tunisia remains politically and economically fragile; we take pride in contributing to its industrial growth and creating skilled jobs, most of which are held by women. Throughout the COVID crisis, we managed to keep every position, first by producing masks at the onset of the pandemic and then thanks to the uninterrupted rise in your orders.
Each fabric is carefully tested in real-life conditions on a shirt by our teams. We evaluate its drape, shrinkage, comfort, ease of care and durability after several washes. If a fabric looks elegant but proves fragile in use, we eliminate it.
Less than one in three fabrics tested is retained! And every year, around 25% of our fabrics are renewed according to trends and customer feedback, so you'll always have a great choice!
