The cutaway collar, a detail that combines originality and elegance

The cutaway collar isn't widely available on the French market, yet it's an original collar to have in your wardrobe. We're used to small, thin collars, but the cutaway offers a number of aesthetic and practical advantages. In fact, this is the first thing you notice when you wear it: the collar is what really "makes" the shirt. The cutaway collar is very open, almost cutaway, hence its name. It's characterized by a fairly high distance between the collar points and the angle, which point outwards rather than downwards. The very open angle makes it more elegant than a standard collar. The cutaway collar, with its backward turn, sits perfectly under the jacket, even when you're on the move. As well as adding a touch of originality, it proportions elongated faces and slim necks well, giving them a rounded look, just like French collar shirts.

The cutaway collar for versatility

First and foremost, the dress collar is found in formal looks, and is a real choice for professional contexts. It creates a definitively modern look when paired with a tie with a medium/large knot or with a slimmer bow tie. If you want to wear it casually, you can wear it without a tie, open button, with a blazer or under a sweater.
